When looking up some design inspirations for your home/office, you may have come across the term ‘Mid-Century Modern’. This style was developed from 1945 to 1975 and is still very popular today. So, what exactly is Mid-Century Modern style? As its simplest definition, it is defined by simple forms, organic influences, high functionality and minimal decoration. In other words, simple but functional. Think of furniture with sleek legs and an abundance of colour and patterns.
Mid-century modern and glam often go hand in hand. Incorporating the simple and sleek with the glamorous can have a beautiful effect! A statement piece is always a must for Glam or Mid Century, so why not go bold by adding an eye-catching oil painting on canvas? This is exactly what we did for a client showroom at Wisma Bentley in Mutiara Damansara. An exciting project we did recently.

There is a huge variety of colour combinations that you can have fun mix and matching. Light and pastel colours are a good option if you don’t want anything too bold. The greyish-blue pillows sit comfortably against the soft pink sofa, and the similar blue hues on the painting really connects all of them together.
White is a neutral colour that makes anything cool modern due to its clean surface. It’s a great choice for mid-century modern living room design, and it can also be put together with any colour. Too much white could almost be blinding, so spice things up with some statement colours. See how the dark blue and golden tones in the painting match the colours of the pillows. Very aesthetically pleasing!
For something a little different, go for a triptych painting. If you find a room to look a little simple, triptych paintings can help give it an interesting flair. The paintings below almost seem as if they are a portrait painting of the plants in the room!
