As it is known, the world we live in is a wonderful and magnificent creation. Beginning from the unspoiled jungle to the immense vista of the ocean to the contemporary skyscraper skyline, there is always something for everyone to see.

It provides an unending source of inspiration to artists throughout history. A lot of exceptionally amazing arts center around the notion of seeing the beauty of what happens around us. Mainly, the sceneries we are presented with in our everyday life or an exceedingly rare occurrence.

Scenery art, as we all know, reflects the beauty of our natural environment. The style of scenery art can vary; it can be surreal, realistic, or abstract. The possibilities are only limited by one's imagination.

In such way, how does exactly can scenic art effect the entire environment of your space? Given the current situation of the world, where we are forced to stay inside, it is critical that we make our environment more engaging, as we all know that colour has a significant impact on our mood.

Take a peek at the two images below to see an abstract landscape artwork. It is ideal for individuals who enjoy a brighter environment and a splash of colour.

According to the world wide web, landscape painting is the representation of natural scenery that can be consist of mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and woods, particularly when the main subject is displayed in an extensive view. Along with its parts grouped into a unified composition.

There are more examples of realistic scenery painting may be seen below. The images below may easily be mistaken for photographs. Apparently, realistic paintings are ideal for people who wish to be reminded of their recent beach vacation or to build memories that will last a lifetime.

Abstract Art

Within this new blog series, I would like to talk about one of the most popular painting styles: abstract art. We frequently meet clients that favour abstract design above any other design approach.

Recognizing Abstract painting is simple; all you need is a broad imagination and a borderless mind. It gives audience the opportunity to interpret the picture on a personalized basis. As stated, Abstract art is frequently discussed, yet the question remains: Why is it so well liked and often sought-after?

First and foremost, we must define abstract. According to Wikipedia, abstract art is a kind of art that does not seek to provide a precise portrayal of a visual reality, but instead of having clean shapes and well-rounded form, it hops on the idea of using shapes, colours, forms, and gestural markings to accomplish its impact.

This technique allows you to study the artwork and convey your own interpretation of the piece. It is all about experimenting with shape and colour.
Picture
Picture
For most individuals, appreciating abstract art does not come naturally. To put it mildly, we frequently overhear someone comment, "even my 5-year-old can paint this." Most people are unaware that a skilled abstract artist must have years of expertise, technical abilities, and mastery of colours and brush strokes.

Furthermore, Abstract art can sometimes make people uneasy since it takes more than a look to decipher its meaning. However, it is ideal for use as a table chat topic or an ice breaker. In terms of house décor, abstract always makes the area appear more polished and adds a splash of colour. Without it, the area may appear bland and monotonous. Can you see how those painting below clearly elevates the appearance of those spaces?

We have attached some abstract styles that were done recently. More designs may be seen at Artisan Malaysia Gallery here  for your further interest and inspiration.

Picture
Let’s get this thing straight to what is exactly a man cave? Well, apparently the whole point of a Man Cave is to have your own, devoted area that is tailored to your own requirements and preferences.

The ideal man cave is not only the ultimate façade of cool, but it is also what defines you as a person. And as the reasons may varies, it will all comes down to one thing; a personal space to relax and unwind.

Just to make it clearer, it is a place where males tend to ease up, work, and pursue their interests without interruption from the rest of the home. Because I live with one, I understand how crucial it is for them to have their own personal space.
Generally, this place is adorned only by the man who occupies it, and there goes the irony.
Picture
The one thing that defines a Man Cave, regardless of where it is in your home, is its seclusion. It may as well be a basement, a spare room, or, if you own a smaller section, it can also be just that little corner in the area.

As usual, Man caves are often designed based on those men’s hobbies and pastimes. It might be football memorabilia, merchandises, or even music regalia... everything about it depends on their interests. The idea is to come up with a theme that feels right to be at home with you, one that makes you feel happy and content every time you walk into the man cave.

To get you started, do check out the mood board below.

Creating a masterpiece is also a terrific opportunity to establish who you are in your own unique environment.

Vintage Glam

Picture
When you think about vintage design, the first thing that springs to mind is undoubtedly outdated and definitely old-fashioned, but that is not always the case.

To characterize it, vintage style typically evokes feelings of nostalgia and reminiscence of the beautiful and elegant era of 1940s. Back in those days, things were absolutely in their own element.

Typically, vintage interior design combines sumptuous textiles, lovely and dreamlike chandeliers, sparkly metal, and a blend of delicate and powerful contrast. To put it simply, this type of design was often bold and seductive.
Picture
As for the colours, vintage interior design mainly combines white, beige, lilac, and other light-coded colour schemes ranging from blue grey to greyish green and to pastel pink.

Shifting into decorations, mixing different vintage components from different eras of designs and items such as lovely spring colours of charming floral designs, antique frames, grandma's favorite plates, crystal or even metal vases, and many more is one of the best methods to create an appealing vintage aesthetic.

When it comes to combining all the pieces together, it will produce a timeless, romantic, and melancholic feeling with the ideal mixture of glam and vintage, which may generate the face of ultimate luxury and elegance.
Picture
Now, if you want to complete your vintage design look, we suggest styling these stunning vintage and modern oil painting designs with a dash of glam into your interior.

How Will Covid-19 Impact Our Homes?

4/21/2020

Humans all have a strong need for safety, security, and psychological comfort in our homes. With the current situation that the world is going through, spending our time at home 24/7 still feels surreal and we wonder how the pandemic will change our lifestyle and whether we will return to our old normal.

Confined to our nest, we are also more conscious of the space we share and the limitations of our homes. In this blog, I discussed with Malaysian lifestyle designer, architect and interior stylist on how COVID-19 will impact or has impacted our homes, and what we can do immediately to make our home more pleasant and comfortable to live in.

Picture
Now more than ever, our homes, our “Sanctuary” has been elevated to perform a myriad of functions. Following the coronavirus outbreak, we have turned our homes into a place to work, a place to homeschool, a place to play in, a place to continue to exercise in, a place to dine, a place of relaxation, a place to sleep and recharge, a place to find inspiration and most importantly a place of solitude as well.

With this, the designs of homes hereafter will change. Priorities and emphasis will be given to making simple spaces function more than a single use. A dining table will have more uses than just a dining experience.
Other valuable ideas that will grow with the new evolution of home designs and also improving its environmental aspects are home grown farming, increasing home plants, energy saving utilities (ac/washing machine, dryer, fan, cooking equipments, etc)  emphasis on air circulation, daylight and internet access design, investing in multi-use sofas, comfortable and easy cleaning rugs, and much much more. A house is no longer just a shelter to come home to after a long day’s work but has now been elevated to be the center of ALL activities in your life.

We’ll probably never see our homes in the same light again.

Versatile and multifunctional spaces are more necessary now that we are spending more time at home. From working, having meetings, and exercising, it seems more important now to create a space just to do this specific activity.

Working from home is the new normal, and a trend moving forward. Find a space in your home that is dedicated and designated mainly just for work. Working from your sofa or bed can create mental distress and your work productivity will suffer, so set up a desk and chair to separate your professional life from the personal.

One of the things that you can immediately do during this pandemic is to declutter your space. We focused so much on the aesthetic, that we often overlooked the fact that having a beautiful home always starts from the internal.

Research has shown that clutter in the house can lead to anxiety and anger issues that can stress you out. Decluttering is a way for you to take control of your home and life. It helps to improve your overall well being and can help to improve your health and happiness.

The best way is to start small, focus on each area of a room, and completing it fully before moving on to the next.

ECLECTIC VIBES

4/16/2020

Picture
It has come to attention that I obviously have a strong crush on eclectic vibes since I am a huge admirer of colours and creative space. But when it comes to bringing things together, it seems easier said than done.

To be frank, it is plainly simple to get carried away with colours and buying home décor pieces based on gut instinct. Well, I must tell you this, but the key to creating an appealing and harmonious aesthetic is to plan out your core colour palette ahead of time. I know, a bit shocking huh?

You can see, eclectic décor may be quite flashy, flamboyant and may not appeal to or be liked by everyone around you... except you, apparently. The thing regarding its vibe is all about boundless conveyance, you may practically pick and choose a collection of various stuff together, but the question you must ask yourself is...

"how will all the design aspects flow together?"
Picture
Evidently, eclectic vibes design incorporates a variety of design aspects such as materials, period of time, styles, trends, and colours. Polka dots, geometric forms, and unusual patterns are all welcome in an eclectic setting. To maintain interesting aspects in your area and full of surprises, add pattern rugs, scatter soft cushions, vintage candle holders, and other treasurable items from various eras and countries!

Then, there is The Power of Three which is an important design guideline to remember. To create a harmonic and coherent aesthetic, make sure you have at least three of the same style or texture when merging your design elements.
Picture
In addition, a gallery wall is another great method to create a beautiful eclectic interior area! It brings individuality and flair to any area. You are free to express your creativity and individuality. This is the ideal opportunity to showcase your greatest photograph with other odd and eccentric artwork and, of course, excellent frames.

Do remember that the greatest method to create a stunning place with an eclectic vibe design is to have a meaningful link that binds all of your design elements together! Best wishes!

MODERN DESIGN

4/15/2020

Picture
The most conventional design in the interior world nowadays is modern design. It lives up to its name and offers versatile and functional space, and it can make a bold statement in any interior area.

We might add that if you like spacious zone, clean lines, and a hint of minimalism, modern design may be the best style that suits you. By focusing on this particular design, you do not need to worry about having to maintain its contemporary flair.

Besides, it is difficult to specify its characteristics because this style is always evolving in the interior design society. There is still debate over what defines modern design, but one thing we can all agree on is that modern design is all about simplicity and functionality. It is just a matter of simplifying things.
Picture
When browsing the market for properties, you might observe that modern interior design is extensively used for houses, workplaces, and public areas. Its clean lines and simplicity create a trustworthy and professional appearance, which is a key selling factor among owners.

But then again, it does not mean that you cannot apply this style to your space. The simplest method to accomplish this design is to use white, beige, grey, and black as the primary colour palette for your interior area. Other colours can be used as well, as long as they are more earthy in tone. Additionally, metal, glass, and steel are commonly used when constructing and furnishings of current design styles.

Here is a modern design mix that will do well for your living room ideas. See how the monochrome colours complement each other?
Picture
With that, adding a statement piece oil painting to your modern design aesthetic is another method to start a discussion.

Pretty Pastel

4/14/2020

Picture
There is something special and utterly remarkable about pastel colours. As you can see, pastel colours in home decor are just so charming, graceful, and attractive.

Likewise, pastels are pleasant and soothing to the human eye, and they have a serene impact that may convert a place into a peaceful refuge. And that is apparent when I said we all need a tranquil haven to decompress after a long day at work, and a pretty pastel decor is the ideal way to achieve this impression.

By combining delicate and pure white, the colour of perfection, with elegant colours such as pastel turquoise or purple is the simplest approach to make this a reality. There are colors like minty coral, lovely peach, cotton candy, and delicate lemon work that well together. Don't those phrases elicit feelings of affection in you? Oh, it is an absolute sure for me!
Picture
To boast this matter, pastel colours are fantastic since they go with almost every piece of furniture or décor. It can be crystal, dramatic lighting from a chandelier, sumptuous fabric, mirror, faux fur, and or even a table lamp! Those items are just a few of the materials that may help you create a sophisticated and beautiful atmosphere.

You could consider the following mood board as a source of inspiration; amazingly well-chosen pastel art pieces, vintage ottoman, and stunning gold home décor item that creates the ideal combo!
Picture
Another method to complete the appearance is to add an artwork, likely one of these selections of breathtaking oil painting.

Scandinavian Style

4/13/2020

Picture
Of course, we have heard the term "Scandinavian style" a lot in the interior field, but what exactly does it mean? Definitively derived from Nordic origins, the Scandinavian design exhibits a light and subdued interior colour palette.

Apparently, this design is distinguished by clean lines and a modest accent of an attractive and polished appearance. The entire effect is modern but simple and utilitarian, comparable to my previous post's Minimalist look.

A perfect Scandinavian design focuses on minimal, clean lines, and a basic style that makes you feel peaceful and relaxed as it does aims to be as clutter-free, organized, and as simple as possible. It is also about making the most of natural light by producing open, brisk, and casual environments. In Scandinavian design, the décor is reduced to a minimum, as this also implies that bare walls and empty areas are acceptable.
Picture
Hence, if you search online for Scandinavian style ideas, you will discover that carpet is nearly non-existent as it is not necessary. In addition to that, the flooring is typically focused on wood and rawness of its nature, which is typically left in its original colour or even painted white.

Furthermore, the fundamental aspect of Scandinavian style is the use of clean, sleek, and contemporary furnishings inspired by nature. For your consideration, here are some thoughtful combinations of simple components that comprise Scandinavian style.
Picture
Contrary to popular belief, Scandinavian design does not have to be monotonous or plain and even boring. If you wish to live up your Scandinavian environment, complement your furnitures with basic and clean-lined artworks, such as these:
